We’re Certified! | Pet CPR & First Aid Training for Staff

One of the perks of sending your dog to Canine To Five for dog daycare, overnight boarding, and full service grooming in Detroit, Ferndale, and Commerce Township, is that our whole team participates in Pet CPR & First Aid classes! First within a new team member’s 90 days, then again every 2 years to stay up to date. This certification process is lead by our Director of Operations, Benjamin Paga.

Ben is a PetTech certified instructor, who trains our team members & the public!

Our goal with these classes is to keep all of our four-legged guests safe by arming our employees with the knowledge they need to quickly identify and address potential health issues. Whether they’re working as a Pack Leader, Receptionist, Groomer, or Overnight Attendant, we prepare them by offering this 3 hour seminar that reviews topics like:
  • Senior dog care
  • Dental care
  • Signs of heat stroke
  • Intestinal parasites
  • Signs of bloat
  • Seizure protocols
  • Choking protocols
  • Creating a safe muzzle
  • Properly wrapping wounds
  • Performing pet CPR
  • & Much more!

Canine To Five Pack Leaders perform wellness checks every day for each dog in our care. Using the knowledge we obtain from these seminars, we’re checking over each dog for signs of stress, illness, and injury, and report any findings to pet parents. Everything from boarding dogs skipping meals to daycare dogs having diarrhea gets documented and communicated to provide reassurance that our team is trained, knowledgeable, and committed to the health and safety of our pack.
